IATF 16949 is a technical specification for the international automotive industry and is based on the ISO 9001 standard and is specifically designed to address the quality management system requirements of the automotive supply chain. The following are its main contents:
Process approach: Decompose enterprise activities into manageable processes, such as purchasing, production, testing, etc., clarify the responsibilities and outputs of each link, and ensure the quality of products and services through effective management of the process.
Risk Management: Identify potential problems, such as raw material shortages, equipment failures, etc., and develop contingency plans in advance to minimize the impact of risks on production and quality.
Supplier management: Graded control of suppliers, strict evaluation and supervision to ensure that 100% of the purchased raw materials are qualified, to ensure the stability of the supply chain and product quality.
Continuous Improvement: Using the PDCA cycle (Plan – Do – Check – Improve), we continuously optimize process efficiency and improve product quality, such as reducing the production line scrap rate and increasing production efficiency.
Customer Specific Requirements: Meet the additional standards and special requirements of different automobile manufacturers to ensure that the products meet the specific requirements of the customers.
Systematic Documented Standards: Provide a systematic approach to the establishment, implementation and improvement of an organization’s quality management system, including quality manuals, procedure documents, operating instructions, records, etc., to ensure that all work is regulated and documented.
Risk-based thinking: Emphasizes continuous attention to potential quality risks, requiring the organization to take the initiative to identify risks and take preventive measures to reduce them and ensure the effective operation of the quality management system.
Mutually beneficial improvement: Encourage all departments and employees within the organization to actively participate in the improvement process, through teamwork to achieve quality improvement, efficiency and other common goals, to achieve a win-win situation.
