One is to improve corrosion resistance. Anodizing will form a layer of oxide film on the surface of the metal, like putting on a layer of “protective clothing” to the metal, such as aluminum alloy doors and Windows, after anodizing can effectively resist the corrosion of environmental factors such as rain and air, and extend the service life.
The second is to enhance wear resistance. This layer of oxide film hardness is higher, can make the metal surface in contact with other objects friction more wear-resistant, like some mechanical parts after anodizing can reduce wear.
Third, improve the appearance. Anodizing can make the metal surface produce different colors, and there are certain decorative applications, such as in the metal shell of electronic products, can make the appearance more attractive.
Anodizing applicable metals:
Surface anodizing is mainly applied to aluminum and aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and titanium alloys.
Aluminium and aluminium alloys are the most commonly used materials. Because aluminum itself is chemically active and easily oxidized in the air, dense aluminum oxide film can be generated through anodizing, which can significantly improve the corrosion resistance, hardness and wear resistance of aluminum, and can be easily stained with various colors for decoration.
Magnesium alloy is also suitable, it is light in weight, but poor corrosion resistance, the film formed by anodic oxidation can effectively protect it, and improve the surface hardness, and it is widely used in aerospace, automotive and other fields.
The anodic oxidation of titanium alloy can improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of its surface, and through the control process, a variety of colors can be formed on the surface of the film, which has applications in medical implants, jewelry and so on.
